Authonomy by HarperCollins (new web site)

September 3, 2008

So my big brother, great fellow that his is, is always looking for something of interest for the kid sister. He came across Authonomy by HarprerCollins and sent me the link. I really haven’t had time to explore it yet as I was working tonight but my quickie tour sparked interest and I intend to spend more time browsing. I mean I registered while snagging the blurb below. Seeing as I’ve become a bit obsessive about getting my hands on ARCs and promoting new authors and books I thought this might be a way to discover the next big author before everyone else. Of course who am I kidding ~ once the book blogging community sees this we’ll be duking it out over the same authors!

I was thinking I’d search a genre every week that sparks my interest, find an author, read their work and write up my thoughts and impressions here at The Printed Page. I guess I need one more thing to blog about as I just don’t have enough (LOL) and the new TV season is right around the corner.

From the Authonomy site front page:

Get Read. Get Noticed. Get Published.
authonomy is a brand new community site for writers, readers and publishers, conceived and developed by book editors at HarperCollins. We want to flush out the brightest, freshest new literature around – we’re glad you stopped by.

If you’re a writer, authonomy is the place to show your face – and show off your work on the web. Whether you’re unpublished, self-published or just getting started, all you need is a few chapters to start building your profile online, and start connecting with the authonomy community.

And if you’re a reader, blogger publisher or agent, authonomy is for you too. The book world is kept alive by those who search out, digest and spread the word about the best new books – authonomy invites you to join our community, champion the best new writing and build a personal profile that really reflects your tastes, opinions and talent-spotting skills.

The publishing world is changing. One thing’s for sure: whether you’re a reader, writer, agent or publisher, this is an exciting time for books. In our corner of HarperCollins we’ve been given a chance to do something a little different.

We’d really love your help.

Come join me and let me know what you think about Authonomy by HarperCollins.

    Hi Jenn,

I think I snagged it before WP had even announced this new template. They have more coming this year so it will probably change and change again. 🙂
